Building a National Collaborative for Brain Health
The Brain Climate Equity Collaborative (Brain-CE) emerged from a recognized crisis and a profound opportunity. Co-founders Muse Laroyia and Dr. Bhavini Makwana saw the same pattern: rising neurological patient intake during climate events like heatwaves and wildfires, and a complete lack of resources to address it.
We realized that no single researcher, clinician, or institution could solve this alone. In 2025, we formed Brain-CE as a national, non-profit collaborative to unite neurologists, physiatrists, researchers, students, and communities under a common mission.
Our Mission
To generate evidence, raise awareness, drive systemic change, and foster innovation to mitigate the impacts of climate change on brain health, with an unwavering commitment to equity.
Our Vision
A future where all major policy decisions integrate climate-resilient brain health, and where equity-deserving communities are prioritized in climate adaptation and health strategies.
Our Approach: The Four Pillars
Our work is structured around four interconnected pillars that guide all of our projects and partnerships.
